Historic Scotland Free Weekend

Posted on Wednesday, 03 November 2010 03:41AM by Scottish Highland News
Historic Scotland, one of the country’s largest preservation societies, is holding a free weekend in November.  Families can enjoy a free day out at one of the many Historic Scotland properties throughout the Scottish Highlands, and all of Scotland.  Entry fees generally range from £1.00 to £8.00 depending upon the property, but on Saturday, 27 or Sunday, 28 November, this entry fee is waived and you can enjoy a visit for free.  Properties include castles, historic houses, archaeological sites, abbeys, palaces, and distilleries.  A visit to an Historic Scotland site is a great way to get a view of Scotland’s romantic and sometimes chequered past, and a wonderful outing for the whole family.  Many sites offer additional amenities including tea rooms, cafes, and gift shops.  To choose your destination, visit the Historic Scotland website at www.historic-scotland.gov.uk for opening times and locations.
