Dornoch

A historic small town eight miles north of Tain, Dornoch is the place to be if you want to enjoy Scotlands relaxing slow pace of life. As sand is the towns main building commodity, sandstone cottages line the tranquil streets of the area.

Surrounded by sand dunes, Dornoch has an award winning beach and is famous for its Championship Golf Course. This truly is a great place for Golfers. The town has a wide range of accommodation including ed and Breakfasts, Hotels, Self Catering and campsites.

Although small in population, the town of Dornoch offers many shops, businesses and accommodation. As a seaside resort Dornoch attracts a wide number of tourists each year who enjoy the scenery around the Moray Firth.

The town is famous for it's thirteenth-century cathedral and it's old town jail, along with the Bishops palace, a castle and (of course) the golf course. In 2000 Dornoch was visited by Hollywood royalty when Madonna had her son Rocco christened in the cathedral.
