Skiing

skiier.jpgWhether you are an experienced Skier, you are learning to ski or you haven't ever done it before, Skiing in the Scottish highlands is an experience that is exhilarating and fantastic fun and is not to be missed.

Skiing Centres in the Scottish Highlands cater for all and look out for
improving your skills and providing an enjoyable time in a magnificent environment.

Within the Scottish Highlands there are three winter ski centres to choose from; The Nevis range features skiing from the 4000ft (1220m), the highest in the whole of Scotland.

Cairngorm, near Aviemore, features two valley ski areas which is great skiing, in fact generally the Cairngorm tends to be the most popular of the ski centres and has some magnificent views to add to the enjoyment of it all.

South of Fort William is Glencoe which is 3636ft (1108m) and has the longest decent of the three amounting to 2600ft (793m).

Also there is Aonach Mor at Fort William, this location is excellent for skiing in the Scottish Highlands

Some great skiing is available, but is dependent on the Scottish weather which can be unpredictable (mountain weather) at times, especially in the Highlands. Good advice would be to check the snow before you go. The skiing season is from late December to April but again all is dependant on the weather.

You don't need to go and spend out on the latest top of the range equipment and clothing, but if you want to, feel free, you certainly want to feel warm and comfortable.  There are many places in the Scottish Highlands to hire your ski equipment and all ski centres offer tuition through qualified instructors and ski schools if needed.
