Female osprey returns to reserve

Posted on Wednesday, 31 March 2010 08:26AM by BBC News, Highlands & Islands
A female osprey whose young are being tracked by satellite has returned to a RSPB reserve in the Highlands for an eighth season.

Called EJ, her female offspring of last year were tagged and their migration to Africa tracked by staff at Loch Garten near Aviemore.

The RSPB remain hopeful that Rothes, one of the young birds that was tagged, will migrate back to Scotland.

Her sister Mallachie, however, may not have survived after reaching Africa.
