Cannich

Cannich is reached by the A831 from either Beauly or Drumnadrochit offering equally enjoyable drives past river and loch taking in Strathglass or Glen Urquhart respectively. Cannich is now a thriving community, mostly thanks to the presence of the Hydro-Electric Board from the mid 1900s onwards. Prior to it being established as an important area for hydro electricity much of the area was in the private ownership of hunting or fishing estates.

Cannich serves visitors and residents well with a variety of accommodation on offer along with a range of eateries and a village shop covering every day requirements. Its position at the head of two impressive and inspiring glens, Glen Affric and Glen Cannich, and being only 4 miles from the pretty village of Tomich, is hard to beat for the outdoor enthusiast.

This area is perfect for witnessing native wildlife in the Scottish Highlands. Stalking, fishing, mountain biking, kayaking and pony trekking are all on offer in the local area and a number of golf courses can be reached in less than an hour’s drive.
